Mehmetçik Kut’ül Amare is a story of Mehmet and his friends in the Ottoman Empire. They prepared for World War One, which was to come soon enough. Across Europe entire countries were readying themselves for what could be one last gasp at glory or utter destruction; some would fall quickly while others endured longer against insurmountable odds until they fell too far behind to ever catch up again. You can tell from looking back on history that many things happened during this time period, but it wasn’t just about war – there’s love too!
The first part of the book details how Mehmed prepares himself mentally and physically before leaving home with hopes he will return victorious as an army man after fighting alongside other soldiers
The movie Mehmetçik Kut’ül Amare is shot on the greatest film sets in Turkey. Bozdağ said, “We have developed the city of Kut al-Amara once more.” Many prop tents, rifles, and firearms were made for this arrangement; a workmanship group of 60 or 70 individuals has been chipping away at these subtleties for a very long time to make sure everything was as accurate as possible.
In the meantime, Bozdağ went to Anadolu Agency’s “Photographs of the Year.” This year, 68 pictures chose from more than 750,000 photos shot in various pieces of the world were put to a vote in news and life classifications. After voting for his favorite photo amongst these many others submitted by different people around the globe he picked Ramazan Turgut’s “Ramadan In The Holy Lands.”
This photograph is an intriguing look at Ramadan as it happens during Hajj (the Muslim pilgrimage that occurs annually) with over 2 million Muslims traveling yearly for this occasion.
